Project Manager with CAPM® and PMP® Prep is a progressive project management learning pathway designed to support participants as they build foundational project management knowledge, prepare for CAPM® certification, and advance toward the knowledge and skills associated with PMP® certification and project leadership. The pathway creates a structured progression from foundational concepts to more advanced project management practices while supporting continued professional and career development.

The program can support individual professional development or be deployed by colleges, universities, continuing and adult education programs, workforce organizations, employers, and public-sector organizations as part of broader workforce and professional development initiatives. BAG’s structured curriculum can be configured around institutional schedules, cohort needs, and participant experience levels while maintaining a consistent learning progression and participant experience.

Project Manager with CAPM® and PMP® Prep provides a structured learning progression that connects foundational project management education with increasingly advanced project leadership knowledge and practices. Participants begin by strengthening core concepts and preparing across the knowledge and application areas represented in the current CAPM® examination before progressing into advanced project management practices and PMP® certification preparation appropriate to their professional experience and career stage.

The pathway develops capability across predictive, adaptive/agile, and hybrid approaches while strengthening knowledge and application across project planning and delivery, scope, schedule, finance, quality, resources, procurement, risk, communications, stakeholder engagement, governance, compliance, change, and organizational outcomes. Participants progress from understanding project management concepts to evaluating project situations, selecting appropriate approaches, making informed decisions, leading teams and stakeholders, and managing projects with greater complexity and responsibility.

The PMP® portion of the pathway emphasizes the current PMP® Exam Content Outline domains of People, Process, and Business Environment, including leadership and stakeholder engagement, integrated project planning and delivery, value-based delivery, governance, compliance, risk, organizational change, and the evolving business environment. Learning also addresses contemporary considerations such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, and the use of project information and context to support decision-making and successful outcomes.

This progression supports continued professional and career development while providing structured preparation for participants pursuing CAPM® certification and, when PMI® eligibility requirements are met, PMP® certification.

Course Pre-requisites:

There are no prior project management experience or certification requirements to participate in this learning pathway. However, participants seeking CAPM® or PMP® certification must independently satisfy the applicable eligibility requirements established by the Project Management Institute (PMI)® before taking the respective certification examination.

Certification Requirements:

CAPM® and PMP® certifications are administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI)®. Participants are responsible for satisfying PMI’s applicable education, training, and professional experience requirements and completing the certification application and examination process.

CAPM® Certification:

To be eligible for the CAPM® examination, PMI currently requires:

A secondary degree, such as a high school diploma, GED, or global equivalent; and
At least 23 hours of project management education completed before the examination.

No prior professional project management experience is required for CAPM® certification.

PMP® Certification:

PMI currently provides multiple eligibility pathways based on a candidate’s educational background and professional project management experience:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent: Minimum 60 months/5 years of non-overlapping experience leading projects within the past 10 years.
Associate’s-level degree, higher certificate, or qualifying technical/vocational education: Minimum 48 months/4 years of non-overlapping experience leading projects within the past 10 years.
Bachelor’s degree or higher: Minimum 36 months/3 years of non-overlapping experience leading projects within the past 10 years.
Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree from a PMI Global Accreditation Center (GAC) accredited program: Minimum 24 months/2 years of non-overlapping experience leading projects within the past 10 years.

PMP® candidates must also satisfy PMI’s 35-hour project management training requirement or meet PMI’s applicable alternative through an active CAPM® certification.
