Project Management Fundamentals with CAPM® Prep is a structured learning pathway designed to build foundational project management knowledge and skills while preparing participants to meet the educational requirements for the CAPM® certification exam. The program supports individual career development and can also be deployed by colleges, universities, continuing and adult education programs, workforce organizations, employers, and public-sector organizations as part of broader professional and workforce development initiatives.

BAG’s structured curriculum can be delivered within semester-based academic environments or through continuing education, adult education, workforce development, and professional development programming. Delivery can be aligned with institutional schedules and cohort needs while maintaining a consistent curriculum, learning progression, and participant experience.

Project Management Fundamentals with CAPM® Prep combines foundational project management education with structured preparation for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification exam. Participants develop practical knowledge and skills applicable to project management and project-support roles while completing the project management education required to pursue CAPM® certification through the Project Management Institute (PMI)®.

The curriculum progresses through core project management disciplines and predictive, agile, and hybrid approaches, allowing participants to build knowledge systematically and apply concepts throughout the learning experience. This structured progression establishes a foundation for continued professional development and more advanced project management learning.

Requirements

Hardware Requirements:

This course can be taken on either a PC or Mac or Chromebook.

 

Software Requirements:

* PC: Windows 10 or later * Mac: A currently supported version of macOS * Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible. * Microsoft Word (not included in enrollment) * Adobe Acrobat Reader (link) or other PDF reader * Software must be installed and fully functional before course begins

Instructional Material Requirements:

Physical instructional materials included with enrollment will be shipped to participants prior to the start of the course. Digital instructional materials, where applicable, will be provided electronically.

Pre-requisites:

There are no pre-requisites.

 

Certification Requirements:

CAPM® certification is administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI)®. Participants are responsible for meeting PMI’s applicable eligibility requirements and completing the certification examination.

CAPM® Certification:
PMI currently requires a secondary degree (high school diploma, GED, or global equivalent) and at least 23 hours of project management education completed before the exam.

This pathway meets the current CAPM® project management education requirement.

Certification eligibility requirements are established by PMI and are subject to change. Participants should verify current requirements with PMI before applying for the examination.

Tequalia B. Curley, owner of Baskin Advisory Group, LLC has been in the field of project, program, and portfolio management for 20 years and has worked as a project management consultant, controller, PMO SME, and instructor during this time. She has worked in a variety of industries, including Information Technology, Public Sector to include Federal/State/Local levels, Education, Telecommunications, and Healthcare. She has worked with Microsoft Project and Excel for the duration of her 20 years in this field. Tequalia has leveraged her earned knowledge and skills in FP&A, and Power BI to create customized and relevant KPI dashboards for her clients.

Michelle McKinney, MPM, PMI-ACP, ITMLE
Michelle McKinney is the Principal at Transform Xperience. She has extensive experience training and coaching Agile project teams, implementing Scrum processes to produce products and services. Michelle has coached state and county government transformations in the implementation to Agile. Her industry experience includes Government, IT Systems Implementations, Retail, Manufacturing, and Healthcare.
